Scoring System

Each book I review will be scored on a scale of five points. That score is generated by rating the book on three categories: How much did I enjoy the book, innovations, and style.

Enjoyment of the book is weighted more heavily than the other two categories, making three out of the five points. Qualities I'm looking for here are good character development, a strong plot, good world-building, and a lively use of language.

Innovation makes up one of the two remaining points. When I see a book doing things that are new, in terms of style, plot, format, etc. or making experiments with its poetry or prose, it intrigues me and draws me further into the text. This will be couched with when the book was published.

Style completes the score. This is going to be a measure of the writing mostly on a small scale. Are the sentences polished? Do the thoughts flow together? These are the considerations I will make for this final point.
